Welcome to THE NEW Harvest Pickleball & Tennis!

EXCITING CHANGES ARE HAPPENING.

Since 2017, Harvest Tennis has provided a quality indoor facility to tennis and pickleball players in central Iowa. Our goal has always been to maximize community participation in these healthy activities and to provide them at a reasonable cost.

While the club is small, it has been one of only two public indoor tennis facilities in the Ames area, and many have enjoyed playing here. Some of you have played here for a short time; others of you have played in this facility for 20 or more years, dating back to when it was Ames Racquet and Fitness, for which we are deeply grateful.

There are some significant upcoming changes taking place with the club, and we wanted to detail those here for you.

Over the last few years we have seen a marked increase in the number of people playing pickleball here at the club and throughout central Iowa. We want to increase the number of opportunities for people to play indoor pickleball. As mentioned above, our goal is to provide a place for maximum participation by people in the community.

We recognize the above changes are exciting for some and may be disappointing for others. They have an impact on tennis players at Harvest Tennis. We hope to continue to provide quality indoor tennis even as we increase pickleball. We will continue to offer cardio tennis and lessons. With the entire Ames and Story County community in mind, we are also thankful for the partnership between Ames Fitness Center and Iowa State University to convert the Fitness Center’s current 4-court bubble into a collegiate tennis facility with six indoor and six outdoor courts.

What are the changes?

We have added two new pickleball courts, which will take us to six total. These six pickleball courts will lay-out in an east-west direction and be spaced out from the south wall to the north tennis curtain with three courts on each side of the current tennis nets.

We have moved from the tennis courts being primary and pickleball courts secondary to pickleball courts being primary and tennis courts secondary
.

The court repainting is scheduled for the week of December 11-17. At this point, we expect that the club will be shut down for one week before we can play again. This could change depending on the weather and drying conditions. We will keep you posted about any changes to this timeframe. Thank you in advance for your flexibility and patience during the week of December 11-17!

We are installing new furnaces
. Furnaces are located on each side behind the black tarps between the tennis courts. These furnaces are currently ~6 feet off the ground and will be raised to ~8 feet high once installed.

We are installing new ceiling fans
. We have four fans that are very dated and do not work well.

The new furnaces and fans will keep the courts warmer during the cold winter months and are expected to be completed by Thanksgiving at the latest.

We have changed our name.

We will be changing our name to Harvest Pickleball and Tennis.

We are switching our online court reservation and membership system
. We currently use a system called Club Automation and will be changing it to a system called Court Reserve. Court Reserve is easy to use and offers us increased flexibility. This switch will be happening sometime in December. We will inform you of the timing once we know more.

Membership and fee structures for both tennis and pickleball have changed
. Learn more HERE.

In addition to these changes, we are exploring a new club entrance, a commercial dehumidifier, increased lighting, and ways to improve the social space in the northeast corner near the entrance. These will improve everyone’s overall and year-round experience at the club.
